An AI spotted an odd pattern in virus DNA

An AI searched microbe DNA and, in about a day, flagged a repeating pattern beside a known enzyme in viruses that infect bacteria. Anthropic says no published study had described it, and lab tests show it is switched on in living cells. A Copenhagen team says it has studied the same system since 2022, in unpublished work.
