About 180,000 giant tortoises on Aldabra, the most ever recorded

About 180,000 giant tortoises now roam Aldabra, a remote atoll in the Seychelles. That's the most ever recorded, and more than all the people in the country. In the 1800s, fewer than 1,000 were left. Protection since 1981 helped them come back. via University of Exeter
